Mr Immigrant

My morning reflections on evening reading the journal of an aquaintance, missionary family Tim and Christine Emerson to Ukraine spanning 2005-to present. I read mostly 2005,2006 reports.

Privit vam! Yesterday I spent all evening reading your online journal for years 2005-2007, the most revealing is your thoughts about daily practical questions, family life, growing in the knowledge of God- insights from nature and people around you, starting a new life in a foreign country, etc. Your stories and observations give a pretty accurate picture of Ukrainians, their struggles and achievements, and you notice almost tiny detail in the people you come into contact, thus creating an interest in a complex human being with a unique spark of image of God in each of them. Because I took GRE and had to critique some texts, I'll try to find weak spots in your highly well-organized and very personal accounts of people and/or events, insights. The first obvious impression is that it's fairly uknown to you how historical drama has been unfolding in what is now Ukraine for a pair of last centuries and like me and others you feel the fallouts of wars, instability, religious and other forms of oppression people have been suffering for quite a long time with new crises still lingering. Being one of us, with manly type of seeing and understanding the world I didn't feel your feelings flowing out in many words - women are so much better in this respect- and as the Jewish teacher told us at Torah studies- the next world with the Lord will be 100 % emotional rather than analytical, and this present world is dominated mostly by men who often break down reality into small parts like puzzle without seeing the greater picture like women do. I think I need to think more about what I would have added to my comments on your religious, private and public territories in your quite exciting life in a strange land where you have the liberty to preach the Gospel and to live it daily- and we hear your thoughts regularly.
